Eco-Chic and a Total Knockout: Meet Valencia

Eco-Chic and a Total Knockout: Meet Valencia

This sexy stool designed by Patricia Urquiola for Andreu World is a real looker! Valencia melds eye-catching design with technological innovation and sustainability. It’s 3D printed using sustainable materials: 35% cork and 65% polylactic acid (PLA), a bioplastic made from renewable resources.

Inspired by the city of Valencia, Spain, and the torrential rain and flooding that the region experienced in fall of 2024, Urquiola referenced weaved Mediterranean baskets for the stool’s aesthetic.

But beyond its striking design, Valencia is also notable for its high-tech and sustainable production process: It’s made using advanced robotic 3D printing, with industrial robotic arms equipped with thermoplastic pellet extruders. The material used is a mix of biodegradable and compostable PLA (polylactic acid) and enriched with crushed natural cork, to create an organic texture that’s solid, tactile, functional, and sustainable.

Exceptional design and eco-friendly—what more could we want in this chic little seat!
