Lincoln, a Chic New Sit-Stand Desk/Console Brings Serious Charm

A Room & Board showroom is basically my dream home. I love that modern aesthetic—clean, uncluttered, and all about rich materiality and texture. And, honestly, if I didn’t have a 7-year-old and a new kitten, my place might look like an R&B store… in theory.

Did you know R&B also sells commercial furniture? The 45-year-old company’s business interiors team has been around for about 13 years, offering contract pieces big and small, plus project management and space-planning support.

At BDNY in November, I swung by the Room & Board for Business booth and loved the mix of resi-mercial releases. The standout for me: the Lincoln Standing Desk/Console created with Gensler. I can picture it anywhere—a C-suite office, hotel, restaurant, retail space, home office, even a living room.

“This product was primarily designed for work-from-home usage. However, we also know desks with significant storage and sit-stand functionality are important to many commercial clients,” explains Gene Wilson, R&B for Business VP of product, ecommerce, and sustainability. Elise Nicpon, director of retail customer experience at R&B for Business, adds that the finished back on Lincoln makes it popular in reception, concierge, and hospitality applications.

Lincoln’s big draw is its human-centric sit-to-stand design, grounded in consumer research and crafted to address wellness, tech, wire management, and storage. Made from responsibly sourced North American hardwoods with customizable wood and hardware choices, it comes as a desk or console—each height-adjustable from 30 to 49 inches via a touch-control panel with three memory presets. Add file drawers on one or both sides, or skip them for a sleek, minimalist console.

“These sit-stand desks offer a warm, contemporary look that blends with multiple interior styles,” says Mark Morton, design director at Gensler. “Rich materials, including hardwood work surfaces, add quality and refinement. And concealed telescoping height-adjustment mechanisms make the furniture look less like office equipment while delivering ergonomic benefits.”

Beyond Lincoln, R&B for Business showed off an impressive range of commercial pieces at BDNY—from the indoor/outdoor Leona table with its striking marble look to the Lloyd sofa, which offers a deep, nap-worthy seat without feeling bulky. Lloyd launches in January; Leona is available now.
