Whenever, Wherever: These 6 Ergonomic Chairs Promote Posture and Productivity

Whenever, Wherever: These 6 Ergonomic Chairs Promote Posture and Productivity

Allsteel, Evo

While working from home during COVID, was your workstation on the sofa or the bed? Or maybe the kitchen counter or dining table? If you’re one of the lucky ones with the space, perhaps you spread out your “office” and used multiple rooms for different tasks. However, once the novelty of working from home waned, many of us realized we missed the office and especially the ergonomic seating we had taken for granted.

Task chairs have come a long way since the 1970s, when research on the health impacts of prolonged computer-based work spurred new seating designs. Bill Stumpf’s 1976 Ergon Office Chair for Herman Miller was the first to focus on spinal health, comfort, and adjustability. It paved the way for today’s crowded playing field.

Here, we present ergonomic favorites from six brands: Workspace, HON, LiberNovo, Andreu World, Poltrona Frau, and Allsteel.

Workspace, Modena

Workspace

Do Red Dot Award winners have more fun? UAE-based office furniture provider Workspace is going to find out. The brand's stylish Modena Ergonomic Executive Chair has won the prestigious Red Dot Award for Product Design 2026. Modena features a wire-activated auto-balance mechanism and a single control on the side to adjust the chair’s height, seat depth, recline, and back tilt. The contoured back frame is engineered to support the natural curvature of the spine, promoting healthy posture and long-term comfort.

The HON Company, Ignition 2.0

The HON Company

Color is the ultimate influencer. It can tell a brand’s story and drive workplace productivity. The HON Company’s Ignition 2.0 with Spectrum Mesh is a bold update to Deisig Design Studio’s seating collection. It unlocks a new world of design possibilities with 22 colors in a breathable, semi-transparent, 3D texture with a modern, sporty appeal. This updated seat also offers lumbar support, an easy-to-use seat glide, and adjustable arms. With 20% post-consumer recycled polyester, it adheres to OEKO-TEX Standard 180, ensuring there are no harmful chemicals or heavy metals.

LiberNovo, Maxis Series

LiberNovo

Ergonomic seating manufacturer LiberNovo has good news for the big-and-tall crowd. LiberNovo’s new Maxis Series isn’t a bigger chair; it’s a ground-up redesign, engineered with a BIFMA-certified reinforced frame that supports up to 399 pounds and an ultra-deep seat platform for full thigh support. LiberNovo’s dynamic support system, which continuously adapts to posture shifts rather than locking users into a single position, has been recalibrated for higher body mass. The Maxis Series also has revamped neck support and armrests.

Andreu World, VElo

Andreu World

Kudos to Andreu World for an impressive showing at NeoCon in Chicago last year. The Valencia, Spain-based, family-owned brand took home nine awards, including a Best of NeoCon Gold in the Seating: Ergonomic Task category for the Velo chair. Designed by Benjamin Hubert, founder of industrial design studio LAYER, the chair focuses on circularity and ergonomic comfort. Velo’s weight-activated mechanism replaces traditional levers and adapts continuously to posture and movement. This seat also helps reduce environmental impact with a recycled thermopolymer frame, fewer components, and parts that separate easily for more responsible end-of-life processing.

Poltrona Frau, Archibald Task President chair

Poltrona Frau

Product launches should be memorable, and one way to make a BIG splash is to debut when the international design community is in town. Poltrona Frau unveiled its Archibald Task President chair, designed by Jean-Marie Massaud, during Milan Design Week 2026. This new ergonomic seat features Kristal Med padding, a patented technology with bioactive properties. Kristal Med enhances comfort, concentration, and relaxation even during long working hours, while helping prevent posture-related pain, inflammation, stress, and fatigue.

Allsteel, Evo

Allsteel

Marine litter is a massive problem, and Allsteel has found a way to help reduce it. The upgraded Evo chair offers an eco-friendly quilted-knit back made from SEAQUAL upcycled marine litter. Created in collaboration with Camira Fabrics, Evo’s knit features a quilted infill structure with pillow-like channels that contour to the user’s natural back shape, allowing the surface to flex, expand, and shift with every movement. The chair is also produced with a zero-waste manufacturing process that eliminates scrap, glue, and sewing.
