Dial Up the Drama With Artistic Tile's Donghia Textile-Inspired Mosaics

Luxury tile brand Artistic Tile has teamed up with legendary textile house Donghia for a collaboration that melds fashion archive, Venetian palazzo, and modern design fantasy. The new collections—Casino Royale and Decadence—reinterpret iconic Donghia patterns in natural stone, transforming beloved textiles into richly detailed mosaics with serious visual punch.

Donghia’s expertise in textiles paired with Artistic Tile’s mastery of stone made for a seamless partnership, according to Artistic Tile president and chief product officer Zach Epstein, who says both brands are hyper-focused on craftsmanship, materiality, and modern luxury. “It was really a dream collaboration,” Zach says.

Casino Royale transforms one of Donghia’s signature arabesque textile patterns into an intricate waterjet-cut mosaic crafted from richly colored natural stone. Meanwhile, Decadence reimagines a refined demilune motif using honed marble, tesserae, and graphic geometric forms. Both collections are available in colorways ranging from moody black marble combinations to creamy neutrals and cool blues.

But translating woven textiles into stone isn’t as simple as swapping fabric for marble. Zach says the team carefully selected patterns that could preserve the depth and movement of the original textiles while showcasing the artistry of mosaic fabrication. “We were able to reimagine the complexity of the weaving by layering different formats of stone, including hand-chipped and waterjet mosaic pieces,” he says.

The resulting collection feels both timeless and sharply contemporary. Zach compares the aesthetic to the elaborate mosaic floors of St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice—historic inspiration filtered through a distinctly modern lens.

“Casino Royale and Decadence are true style chameleons,” he adds, noting the designs can move effortlessly between boutique hotels, luxe residential projects, and sleek commercial interiors.

In one very serendipitous design-world moment, Casino Royale in Bianco Antico recently landed on a fireplace wall inside Kidilum, an Indian restaurant in New York’s Flatiron District. Restaurateurs Sidharth Sharma, Archana Sharma, and Sammeer A Raajpal—who worked on the interiors with help from one of their mothers—discovered Artistic Tile because the restaurant sits directly across from the brand’s 21st Street showroom. We love a good “walked across the street and found the perfect tile” moment. The mosaic’s warm tones now play beautifully against the rich colors and spices of the cuisine.

For Zach, though, the magic really happens when people experience the mosaics up close. “They’re always really surprised by the level of detail and the finishes,” he says. By combining matte tumbled mosaics with satiny honed stone, the collections highlight both the beauty of natural stone and the spirit of the original Donghia textiles.
