The renovated Florim Gallery showroom at Florim’s headquarters in Italy
It’s clear that the material maestros at Florim haven’t been resting on their laurels lately. The opening of new flagship stores in LA and Seoul earlier this year brings the grand total to 10 stores worldwide. The surfacing specialists from the Sassuolo ceramic district continue to expand their reach within the A&D industry by creating tiles for use in products such as furniture, ventilated facades, and kitchen surfaces. This evolution has been supported by an intensive R&D process, culminating in the launch of five new collections crafted in collaboration with Gensler, Cristina Celestino, Nicola Gallizia, Matteo Thun & Partners, and Benedetto Fasciana.
Formatech by Gensler
Formatech reinterprets raw materials, like concrete, metal, and plaster, as durable, yet sophisticated, ceramic surfaces in three finishes and thicknesses. Not surprisingly, this classy collection from Gensler is particularly well-suited to large-scale architectural projects, combining colored body tiles, advanced printing techniques, and digital applications. As part of Florim’s CarbonZero project, Formatech has up to 60% recycled content.
Segnature by Cristina Celestino
As Formatech is an ode to hardened materials, Segnature porcelain stoneware celebrates softness. Segnature was inspired by the delicate veins of leaves and the tactile grain of crepe paper; the tiles are offered in two texture variants in a variety of warm, neutral shades. It is manufactured in facilities where all raw and fired waste materials and wastewater are fully recovered.
Rinascenza by Nicola Gallizia
Don’t be surprised if you do a double-take when you first see the Rinascenza collection. A tribute to Italy’s architectural and artistic heritage, Rinascenza porcelain surfaces realistically reinterpret iconic materials such as sandstone, ceppo lombardo stone, and cork via advanced digital techniques. Rinascenza, which means rebirth in Italian, is crafted with up to 100% renewable energy.
SensiColore by Matteo Thun & Partners + Benedetto Fasciana
While the other collections have focused on texture and pattern, SensiColore is all about color—exploring Italian landscapes through a palette of 15 Mediterranean-inspired shades. Available in 2-inch-by-9-inch and 4.5-inch- square sizes, the tiles combine precise surface decoration with a deliberately irregular watercolor effect suited to baths, spas, and other relaxing spaces.
SensiEtna by Matteo Thun & Partners + Benedetto Fasciana
Another design from Thun and Fasciana, SensiEtna small-format wall tiles are a tribute to the raw power and natural beauty of Mount Etna. These tiles are crafted in partnership with lava stone brand Nerosicilia through a sustainable process that reuses offcuts from local lava slab processing manufacturers. The integration of recycled glass as a surface decoration on lava stone makes one-of-a-kind color effects possible.
